Lincoln Presidential China Inspired Faceted Amethyst Drop Earrings with Gold Accent

Discover these unique faceted purple amethyst 1 1/2-inch drop earrings with gold accents. Each hand-carved amethyst wedge is encased in vermeil trim on a dainty ear wire. Inherent to the hand carved stone craftsmanship is slight natural variations in color and size. Gold-plated pewter for a touch of casual elegance.

These earrings are a part of our jewelry collection inspired by President and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln's White House china service. The porcelain dinner, breakfast, dessert, and tea service was purchased for the White House by First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln during an 1861 shopping trip to the E. V. Haughwout & Co. department store in New York City. The itemized bill included with Mrs. Lincoln’s new china includes the following description of her purchase, ā€œOne fine Porcelain Dining Service . . . decorated Royal purple, and double gilt, with the Arms of the United States, on each piece.ā€ The beautiful state service, which originally included 190 pieces, was reordered during the presidencies of Ulysses S. Grant and Chester A. Arthur and examples are kept on display in the White House China Room today.
